The second DVD production from Dance Music Production is a tutorial dedicated to the production of Trance music.
Starting from a blank sequencer this 3 hour video course is designed to be used in conjunction with the Dance Music Manual (first or second edition) and follows Phiadra through the construction and programming of the trance track "Sunset".
During the entire production process, screen recording software was left running that was later edited down to 3 hours of video, covering the most fundamental and important points from the production.
Split into easy to understand sessions, the DVD actively discusses the construction and production used to create Sunset including the inital starting point of getting the basic musical ideas down, through to how to program professional drum tracks, the use of processing and effects, building the bass line, processing, constructing and synthesizing the leads, and the creation of build-up sound effects. The DVD also discuses the final arrangement techniques, alongside the preparations for mixing down the track.
A demo of the complete track that was made during filming of the DVD is available to hear on you tube and at myspace (phiadra).
Reviews:
....this trance dvd is awesome. as they mention there are lots of ways to work. however there are tips and things in here that just made the light bulb turn on for me. I am soo excited to have this dvd and will be watching it several times over. I also now want to go back and reread many parts of the DMP...

After watching this its shown me that I have been spending far too much time on the wrong things altogether rather than concentrating on where the real magic lies. I've been following the advice of the DVD since I received it and it has helped with my productions immeasurably so thank you once again

I'm certainly no beginner at writing Trance music and I had some anticipation on purchasing as to whether it would teach me anything I didn't already know. While it didn't teach me that much from a technical perspective (that isn't a criticism I have read both editions of the dance music manual and a number of other books) it certainly opened my eyes in regards to how the music is produced to a professional level. After watching this its shown me that I have been spending far too much time on the wrong things altogether rather than concentrating on where the real magic lies.

I got my copy yesterday and after watching it today I just had to post and say thank you for doing this Snowman!!! I've been trying to write trance for about a year and read loads of books but I never really got the hang of it. This dvd has really tied it all together for me. When I first watched it I thought it didn't really reveal any secrets but then I realised it had without me knowing lol. Its broken down some serious barriers for me!!!!
I am sure most out there have gone through the same learning struggles as myself. Trying to dig up info on the net, reading the latest CM or FM magazine, and watching the related artist dvd's. This leads to a scattered, fragmented knowledge base that becomes more or less like trying to put a puzzle back together. You try to implement what you read here, or use what you saw there, only to sit in front of a sequencer getting frustrated because it still doesnt make sense. You are still left scratching your head thinking there must be more, what is the secret!
For me, this DVD was the secret! This DVD was like the glue that took all those fragmented pieces and put them together to make sense. Everything was broken down into manageable, well thought out, concise, lessons that taught in a way that forced you to learn. As stated in the DVD, this is not a meant to show you how to make music by copying what it is they do on screen, but rather show you how it is done, so that you can make music yourself.

This DVD (Trance) is an invaluable source of information for any beginner or a pro. It has helped me A LOT in understanding now to properly arrange Trance music. It might be strange but "The Ideas" chapter was the most valuable to me, as I simply didn't know where to start. This DVD is overwhelming to me, as was the book, and I feel I will be going over and over it again. But there's one thing for sure, there simply no other place where I can get this information from!

I was a little afraid to get it at first because it deals with Logic DAW, but in reality it was done in such a good way that all the principles described are applicable to any DAW.
