I have a CS2x connected to my Focusrite Saffire s/card and im running Logic Pro.
Now the keyboard works (plays notes, Logic records the midi notes etc) but the filters and envelopes have no effect on the instuments I am editing.
Is there something I need to activate in Logic?
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
i'm not a logic user but with cubase you have to turn on the Automation for the channel or effect with the R (read) and W(write) buttons i would think you would have a simular thing in logic

I can draw automation on the instrument channel & then it reads it but doesnt recognize the keyboard.
Good try tho.

The envelopes and filters in the synth are specific to the preset, could you be editting a preset on a different channel to the one your trying to edit?
ie, on your sequencer your trying to record and create a part on midi channel 1, but on your synth your editting the preset on midi channel 2 (for example).
I'd suggest checking that your midi channels are the same on the sequencer track, and the synth preset.
hope this helps,

If you mean about editing presets etc Im referring to instruments within Logic that I want to edit in realtime with my keyboard, not sounds on my keyboard.
Thought you might be on to something with the midi channels, but Logic is set up to receive on Ch 1 & my keyboard is transmitting on Ch 1.
I sure its something simple that IM doing wrong.
I dont understand why Logic records me playing the keyboard (so midi information is being sent/received) but not the signals from the LPF/HPF & resonance dials.
I will have to dig the manual out.
Any other suggestions welcome.

Your using your Yamaha keyboard, as a MIDI controller, sending on Ch1, to a VST receiving on Ch1. When you play notes, record etc, the VST makes all the right sounds.
But, when you use the filter controls on the Yamaha, the VST does not copy the filter movements you make.
It won't mate, your filter cutoffs/resonance etc don't give off cc messages, you've got a couple of options;
1. assign controllers on your Yamaha to send on CC channels (Mod wheel, and however many more it is capabale of) this will then get recorded in your sequencer as you record, then assign your VST filter parameters to recieve on the same channels.
Alternatively, and what I would advise;
Assign CC channels to the parameters in your filter you want to automate, then write the automation on corresponding controller lanes in the MIDI event for the instrument track.
Hope this helps,

Suprised that filters etc arent recognized by the VST/Logics native instruments seeing as they all have a specific CC number. Oh well.
Thanks mate.

If the controls you are trying to automate already have CC numbers assigned, then opening up a controller lane on the designated cc number on the event should do it.
hope this has solved it, if not, let me know, and we'll see what else it could be.

You CAN assign any conroller surface to work with ANY plug-in.
There is a easy to follow guide on YouTube which shows you how to set it up.
Just search for SFLOGICNINJA CONTROLLERS and you should see it.
Im at work at the moment but I will find the direct link and add it.
For Logic users he has quite a lot of useful tips on his other vids as well.
