Course Details

NOTE: UK Progressive House consists of smooth grooves and gentle developing melodies, similar in some respects to progressive trance. It should not be confused with the U.S “mainroom house” style.

Throughout this tutorial, you learn topics covering the production, theory, tips, and techniques behind the creation of UK “Progressive House”. We will then take you through composition and engineering techniques associated with the genre so that you are able to produce your own version of this gene.

You will be taken from a blank sequencer and over a period of 7 hours, observe Rick construct an example of a Progressive House track. During the build, he demonstrates to you the compositional, production and engineering skills and techniques employed in its creation so that you are able to learn those skills. You will learn how to start with the initial composing the leads and bass lines through the programming of the sounds, the application of effects and the requisite processing along with a number of the arrangement techniques.

At the end of this course, you will also have an understanding for the rhythmical pulsing feel and how to create it – including the uses of dissonance, metrical ambiguity, displacement, side-chain displacement, pulsing and rhythmical ambiguity.
