Musical Musings and News.~Friday 21st June 2019
I’m writing to let you know about our new recording studios and school that we’re opening in September.
We’re still outfitting the studio and rooms as I type this but I’m so excited that I wanted to give you a taste of what we’ve been working on and what you can expect from us in the very near future.
Altar studio is a converted church in a quiet South Yorkshire village. We wanted to move from the bustle of Manchester and felt a church was the appropriate location because the Dance Music Manual is often referred to as “the bible”, so what better than to use a church!
It is a boutique studio with a large range of specialist studio hardware including Manley, Neve, Tube-Tech, SSL, Chandler, Neumann, and API with an Avid mixing desk, and all the latest production software.
Like our workshops, we like to keep things personal to ensure you receive the best quality education and so we have designed the classroom for several students, located upstairs with a large glass window that directly overlooks the main studio.
This is next to a recording room that also overlooks the studio. We have designed both studio and classroom to be a creative learning space that is both relaxing and inspiring.
To further help with creativity, we have also designed a separate modular room. This is a traditional and relaxed area featuring a modular synthesis set-up alongside a record player, a large selection of vinyl and hardware samplers.
You can relax, sit and listen to records with a coffee, and if you hear something worth sampling – you can record it into a sampler and transfer it to the studio.
At lunch or coffee breaks, we have a green room featuring a full size pool table, an arcade machine (both free to use), a bean to coffee machine (for fresh coffee) and other refreshments and food.
All this with private, fenced, secure on-site parking and outside space if you want to smoke or just grab some fresh air. Altar is located just off the M1, with a hotel and restaurant less than 5 minutes drive away so if you want to spend a few days with us, its not far to travel.
You’ll have the opportunity to learn about music production in the perfect atmosphere; a professional recording studio. We’ll be sending out photos of the new studio, its layout and further information closer to opening.
Have a great weekend.
